Harry Kane reached 200 club goals quicker than Ronaldo & Rooney

Remember when Harry Kane was only supposed to be a 'one-season wonder'?

How ludicrous that seems now.

Since his breakthrough season all those years ago, Kane has established himself as one of the best and most consistent goal-scorers in the world.

No one would now dare stick their neck out and bet against Tottenham's talismanic No 10 going on to achieve legendary goalscoring status after he joined an exclusive club on Wednesday night.

Kane's two goals in Tottenham's 3-1 victory over Newcastle saw him not only pass 20 goals for the sixth consecutive season, but also breach the 200-goal landmark.

Of those, 185 have come in a Tottenham shirt, while Kane scored nine for Millwall, five for Leyton Orient and two for Leicester during loan spells earlier on his career.

It's some achievement but Kane is not one to sit still and marvel at himself.

'Very proud, on to the next 200,' he posted on Twitter after the match.

If the time it took him to reach his first 200 is anything to go by, then it won't be long before he does double his tally.

After all, it took Kane just 350 matches to reach the astonishing feat.

Cristiano Ronaldo - one of the game's greatest ever scorers - had made 29 more appearances than Kane did when he notched his 200th goal.

Sergio Aguero and Thierry Henry had played even more times than that before they too hit 200 goals while the Premier League's second highest top scorer in its history, Wayne Rooney, had played almost 100 more times than Kane.

If anything, that makes Kane's achievement all the more extraordinary.

The fact Kane is not only running with such esteemed company, but actually breaking their records, is testament to the level he's been operating at over the last five or six years.

Jose Mourinho has worked with some of the world's best in his time, but even he seemed astounded by what Kane has managed to achieve in such a short space of time.

'Harry knows how important he is, he is incredible,' said Mourinho, after the win kept their European hopes alive.

'He is a young guy and to have 200 goals at this age with the remaining years he has in front of him is amazing.

'It is very normal that he speaks about going for 200 more. I am with him.'
