It is set to be a huge summer for one Liverpool player, in particular, as he reaches a crossroads in his career at Anfield.
Harry Wilson, who has come under fire in some quarters for wearing a Liverpool jacket while watching his current side, Bournemouth, play at his permanent club, the Reds, this weekend, has a significant decision to make.
Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi could both move away from Anfield this summer, leaving space in the squad to fill.
Timo Werner heads the list of names that Reds fans would like to see arrive, while Takumi Minamino is set to have a larger role in the squad after bedding in for the remainder of this campaign, but Wilson's name simply has to be in the conversation, too.
Judging by the comments he made to BT Sport over the weekend, those discussions might already be underway.
On the latest edition of the Academy Show on the Blood Red channel, Matt Addison discussed the Welshman's television appearance, where Wilson made it abundantly clear where he sees his future lying.
Addison explained: "He's desperate to be a Liverpool player. He's a Liverpool fan and he's been there so long. He deserves a chance and pre-season, as it was last season, is going to be massive for him.
"The way he came across on BT Sport and the maturity he showed was great to see. He didn't bat away any of the questions when it would have been really easy to do so.
"Jake Humphrey and Rio Ferdinand were asking him some fairly straight questions of where do you see yourself next year and he was very, very clear about that - he sees himself as a Liverpool player first and foremost.
"It's a difficult position that he's in but in terms of what Liverpool have asked him to do, he's done everything right.
"When he moved up into the under-23s, the challenge was to score more goals. He went and scored 31 or 32 from a right-sided midfield position.
"Then it was a case of leadership - improve the players around you and make them better as well. He took on the captaincy and did really well.
"And then he's gone out to Hull, to Derby and now to Bournemouth and showed it's not just at Academy level that he can score goals.
"Every team in the world is looking for as many attackers who can stick the ball in the net as possible."
Bournemouth would love to keep Wilson but they are realistic: this season has not gone as well as it should have done for them, and if they go down, there is no chance of him staying on the South Coast.
He was deemed to be ahead of both Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori when at Derby County under Frank Lampard, and so his talent is clear. So too is the fact that there is a precedent for that sort of player to make it at the top.
Should he depart, though, there will be a queue of teams ready to make a swoop.
Addison added: "If he does end up going on a permanent deal, which if you pushed me, that's the most likely scenario at this stage, I wouldn't be surprised to see him go to a Leicester or a Wolves.
"He deserves a step up from Bournemouth, but he also deserves regular football."
If a move to another club was to take place, Liverpool would no doubt have a sell-on clause and a buy-back clause inserted in the deal, as they have with many departing stars over the last few seasons.
To date, that has not massively paid off, however, with Luis Alberto being linked with a big-money move away from Lazio in Serie A, the Reds could be set to profit there.
They will get 30 per cent of the fee that he is sold for should he depart the Italian side, with that amount potentially as high as £20.7 given his valuation is reportedly set at £69 million.
Whatever happens with Wilson's future this summer, Liverpool are set to benefit in some way.
Either, they will pick up a hefty transfer fee with the potential for an even higher sell-on fee, or they will have a handy squad player for next season and a ready-made replacement for one of those about to depart.
