Eden Hazard has backed Thierry Henry to succeed as a manager after he was linked with the No 1 position at Monaco.
Belgium assistant boss Henry is in advanced conversations with the Ligue 1 side after the club sacked Leonardo Jardim on Thursday.
Former Monaco player Henry turned down an approach from Aston Villa this week.
'As a manager he does not have a lot of experience but he will learn,' Hazard said.
'If he leaves the Belgium team, we will be sad but maybe for him it is a good time to go. He will be a top manager for sure.'
Monaco currently lie 18th in the table with just one win from their opening nine league fixtures.
The former Arsenal striker has a strong link with the principality side. He graduated from Monaco's academy to play 141 games for the club, winning the Ligue 1 title in 1996-97.
Belgium boss Roberto Martinez added that Henry will be present for Friday evening's Nations' League game against Switzerland but admitted his future is in doubt: 'It is nothing new for us. I can guarantee you he will be on the bench tomorrow and the only thing that matters is the Switzerland game.
'After that, the speculation will carry on and one day it will hit the jackpot and be correct. You will have to ask me on Friday after the game.'
