Eden Hazard has been named the Premier League Player of the Month for September after scoring five goals in four matches as Chelsea maintained their unbeaten start to the season.

He netted a hat-trick against newly-promoted Cardiff, while Hazard also found the net against Bournemouth and title rivals Liverpool.

This is the second time the Belgian attacker has won the monthly prize, having done so in October 2016.

The 27-year-old overcame competition from five other players, receiving the most combined votes from a panel of experts, Premier League captains, and from fans.

Hazard defeated other contenders Willy Boly, Alexandre Lacazette, James Maddison, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Raheem Sterling.

His recent form has reignited talk over a potential move to Real Madrid. On Thursday, Hazard ruled out a January transfer to Spain but suggested he may need to move eventually in order to win the Ballon d'Or.

Sources in Belgium believe that Hazard will continue to stall over a new contract in the hope and expectation that Real Madrid launch a huge move to sign the playmaker next summer.

Hazard, who spoke to media on Thursday, did give a very clear 'No' when it was suggested he could leave Chelsea in the winter transfer window.
