Barcelona and Argentina superstar Lionel Messi has finally shaved his beard for the first time since 2016.
Messi let his beard grow a few times in the past, but before 2016, it had never reached the level that it is for the last two years.
In 2016 July, he explained the strange reason why he will not shave his newly grown beard, insisting his national team teammates would not let him do so before the Copa America Centenario tournament ended.
"If I lose the beard, the others would kill me," he said two years ago. "We believe this is a kabbalah so we will be able to break our bad run and win the trophy.
"There's no way I'm shaving it off now, my teammates wouldn't let me."
Argentina came mighty close of winning their first major trophy in 23 years - with the last coming in 1993 Copa America - as Messi missed a penalty in the penalty shootout against Chile in the final.
He sensationally announced his retirement from the national team afterwards, saying 'this is best for everyone, firstly for me and for a lot of people that wish this', only to reverse his decision and return after just one month.
