'He was outrageous!': LFC fans rave over performance of Suarez's 13-14 season

At times during the 2013-14 season, Luis Suarez was simply untouchable for Liverpool.

The controversial Uruguayan scored 31 goals in 33 league games in his final season at Anfield as Liverpool came agonisingly close to winning the Premier League title under Brendan Rodgers.

While Liverpool would fall just short in the final weeks of the campaign, Suarez would go on to claim numerous individual awards at the end of the season.

He was named PFA Player of the Year and Premier League Player of the Season, also picking up the Premier League Golden Boot award.

Few players of the Premier League era have produced a campaign of such individual brilliance.

Perfect performance has prompted debate between Liverpool supporters over where Suarez ranks in terms of the club’s all-time greats.

One fan wrote: “Greatest Player I have seen play for Liverpool. Not fussed what anyone says. He could do it all!”

Another added: “It was ridiculous how good he was that season, scored 31 goals and he was relentless, scored any type of goal, he was unbelievable that season.”

“He was outrageous in every sense of the word,” added a third.

Suarez would go on to join Barcelona in the summer of 2014, having scored 82 goals in 133 games during his three-and-a-half years at Liverpool.

Former Reds captain Steven Gerrard has named Suarez as the most talented player he worked alongside during his years at Anfield.

When asked to name his greatest teammate, Gerrard told Gary Neville’s Soccerbox: “Suarez.

“I would prefer to play with [Fernando] Torres because I think he complimented my game more, because he runs in behind more.

“But if you’re talking about a player who can do everything – occupy a back four himself, win you any football match at any given time and an all-rounder, I’d say Suarez is better than Torres.”
