Thierry Henry believes 'amazing' Gareth Southgate can lead England to Euro 2020 glory on home soil next summer.
The Three Lions only need a draw against Montenegro on Thursday night to seal their spot at the tournament after easing through the majority of their qualifying campaign.
And Henry, who won the European Championship with France 20 years ago next summer, is confident Southgate can build on last year's run to the World Cup semi-finals despite the problems between Raheem Sterling and Joe Gomez in the England camp this week.
'Gareth has been amazing for the team,' Henry told Sportsmail at the launch of Heineken's Euro 2020 sponsorship.
'I like the way he talks, the way he sets up. His players are shining now under the guidance of a lot of good managers at club level as well.
'I love what Southgate is doing with the team. We know the semi and final will be at Wembley and that has to be a great source of motivation.
'Can they win? Yes, they will be one of the contenders. It is still early to say, because a lot of the teams still haven't qualified, but you'd like to think they will be there or thereabouts.
'At the last World Cup you had four European teams in the last four. I worked with Belgium - they will be there too.
'France, Portugal, the holders, Spain, are coming back strong. Holland are coming back strong, Italy are coming back strong.
'England, on the back of what they did at the World Cup. Croatia had a great World Cup too, so you never know.
'The list is long but can England do it. What Gareth and his staff have done is amazing.'
While Henry is an admirer of Southgate and England, it is France will go into Euro 2020 as favourites after reaching the 2016 final and winning last year's World Cup.
The former Barcelona and Juventus forward would not be surprised to see his country lifting another major trophy in London on July 12.
'You have to give a lot of credit to this generation of French players,' he said.
'They have been in a Euro final in 2016 and won the World Cup in 2018 and now people expect them to do the same thing.
'It's a great generation of players and they are doing extremely well under the guidance of Didier Deschamps, someone who has won both with France, so he knows [how it's done].
'You know what I think about that team - they are my team, my country - I always want them to do well.
'Can they do it? I think so, but a lot of teams can win this tournament.
'Obviously people are tipping them to win this time, but a lot of teams are in with a chance of winning it.
'But why not? It would be great to have another generation that can do what we did.'
Henry is referring to winning the World Cup and European Championship back-to-back, something he achieved with Les Bleus in 1998/2000.
'I haven't even thought about the amount of time - 20 years since we won!' he added.
'It is kind of interesting - they won in 2018 and they could do 2020, we did 1998 and then 2000. Almost exactly the same timings.
'Heineken have also been in the game for a long time with their sponsorship of the UEFA Champions League for over 25 years, and now the partnership with the Euros. It's great.
'I don't know what has happened over the last 20 years - it has been so fast. I was saying to my friends that 'time has no time'. It's crazy how it's already been that long.'
