Hakim Ziyech's lightning start to his Premier League career has got Ashley Cole wishing he could lace up his boots and pull on a Chelsea shirt once again.
The £38m summer signing was the difference-maker as Chelsea reversed a 1-0 deficit to dominate Sheffield United, floating over a glorious ball for Ben Chilwell to seize the lead before his pin-point cross allowed Thiago Silva to head in.
While the likes of Silva and Timo Werner forged ahead, Ziyech's debut was delayed by a knee injury picked up in pre-season but the Moroccan has certainly been worth the wait for Blues fans.
'When Ziyech gets the ball on his left foot it begs for runs, he's such a talented boy,' Sky Sports pundit Ashley Cole said, with Graeme Souness in agreement.
'If I was playing with him I'd always be looking to get in behind.
'I would love to play with someone with that quality. I had the pleasure to play with Lampard who used to find me in behind.
'But as soon as Ziyech opens up and gets it out on that cultured left foot, I'm making runs behind because he's got a wand of a left foot.'
Cole had the luxury of receiving Ziyech-esque passes from Lampard throughout his eight-year Chelsea career, with the pair winning the Premier League, Champions League and four FA Cups together.
Lampard will hope Ziyech can bring him similar success, after the winger marked his first start with a goal and assist against Burnley last week.
For Ajax, the star smashed in 48 goals and provided 82 assists in 165 games for the Amsterdam side and shows no signs of slowing down in west London.
