A product of Fluminense, João Pedro was the tormentor of his former club in the World Cup semi-final. After scoring both goals for Chelsea in the 2-0 victory, the striker said how he felt about hurting the team he was trained for. He did not celebrate either goal.

João Pedro, to DAZN: I'm happy to score the first goal, but at the same time this championship was very important for them [Fluminense], I can't just apologize, but I'm a professional, I'm paid to score goals and today I was very happy to score the goals.

The striker acknowledged the mixed feelings about being the tormentor of his former club . Speaking to CazéTV, he apologized to the Tricolor fans and said he hopes to return to Fluminense one day.

João Pedro: A mix of feelings. I was happy to score the first and second goals for Chelsea, but I also felt sad when I met players and members of Flu who worked with me, others who came from the youth team and were living a special moment. Talking to them and seeing their sadness is difficult because they have dreams, just like I did when I was here. I have to do my job and I scored two goals today.

I just want to apologize. I know this tournament was important to them, but it's important to us too. It's part of football. It didn't go the way they wanted, but that's how it is: if one side is going to cry, unfortunately... I have to keep working, I hope to be able to come back one day. We can't control the future, but the fans know how much I love Flu, I try to watch some games, but I'm happy to see everyone again.
