A product of Fluminense, João Pedro was the tormentor of his former club in the World Cup semi-final. After scoring both goals for Chelsea in the 2-0 victory, the striker said how he felt about hurting the team he was trained for. He did not celebrate either goal.

The striker acknowledged the mixed feelings about being the tormentor of his former club . Speaking to CazéTV, he apologized to the Tricolor fans and said he hopes to return to Fluminense one day.

I was happy to score the first and second goals for Chelsea, but I also felt sad when I met players and members of Flu who worked with me, others who came from the youth team and were living a special moment. Talking to them and seeing their sadness is difficult because they have dreams, just like I did when I was here. I have to do my job and I scored two goals today.
I just want to apologize. I know this tournament was important to them, but it's important to us too. It's part of football.
