Inside Man City’s jubilant dressing room after victory over Liverpool

Manchester City hero John Stones wasted no time in discovering just how close he came to turning the Premier League title race on its head.

After Sadio Mane hit the post during the first half, Stones kicked the ball off his own goalkeeper Ederson before scrambling to make a goal-line clearance with the ball only 11 millimetres from crossing the line.

Come the final whistle, that intervention proved crucial as City went on to win 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium and cut Liverpool's lead to four points.

Stones watched the amazing passage of play in the moments after City's victory and shouted 'Hadouken!' as he toasted his close shave with a celebration from iconic game Street Fighter.

Moments earlier he had celebrated wildly with a member of City staff as Pep Guardiola's side made their way back to the dressing room on Thursday night.

Thanks to City's amazing Tunnel Cam, fans were given a rare chance to see the Premier League's two best sides up close and personal, away from the glare of the floodlights.

After the 90 minutes were up, the two squads could be seen making their way back to the changing rooms with contrasting emotions written across their faces.

Danilo led the celebrations for City, giving the camera a huge double fist pump as Sergio Aguero — who scored the opening goal — swapped shirts with Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson.

Aguero could be seen grimacing after 90 gruelling minutes of action as he headed to complete a post-match doping test.

Shortly before the break Aguero had fired beyond Alisson from a tight angle to give City the lead, before Roberto Firmino levelled the scores with a diving header at the back post.

But Guardiola's champions were not to be denied, with Leroy Sane's well-struck shot proving the difference on Thursday night.

Raheem Sterling played a crucial role in the goal, with his dribble and through-ball putting Sane in a position to score.

And in the changing room afterwards, the England international could be seen talking members of the City staff through his decision-making in the moments before the winner.

He was not alone, however, with lots of the City squad keen to watch the post-match debrief on TV while feasting on some much needed snacks.
