Inter Milan 'will target Victor Lindelof and Thilo Kehrer if they miss out on Harry Maguire'

Inter Milan are reportedly monitoring Premier League duo Victor Lindelof and Thilo Kehrer in their search for a new centre-back this window.

The Serie A outfit are hopeful of landing a new central defender in response to Milan Skriniar's imminent move to PSG, after the Slovakian gave a verbal agreement he would join the club.

Simone Inzaghi's side have enquired over the availability of Man United's Harry Maguire but, should they fail to land him, are open to the possibility of signing his Swedish team-mate.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter will prioritise a move for either Lindelof and Kehrer if they don't succeed in their pursuit of Maguire.

The outlet claim that Inter only want United's Lindelof on a loan deal, whereas the Red Devils would prefer to sort a permanent agreement.

Meanwhile, West Ham's Kehrer only joined the club in the summer but had already been offered to Inter by PSG as part of negotiations for Milan Skriniar last summer.

The Serie A giants are reportedly in talks with both Premier League clubs as they look to finalise a deal prior to the transfer deadline closing on Tuesday.

Sportsmail reported earlier in the week that United had rejected a request from Inter Milan over Lindelof, despite the defender barely playing this season.

After discovering Milan Skriniar's agreement with PSG was close to completion, the Italian side made an enquiry to United over a loan deal for Harry Maguire.

Despite being an integral part of England's international side, Maguire has been continuously overlooked by Ten Hag, who wants to keep him for defensive cover.

Maguire has admitted he doesn't want to become a bit-part player at Manchester United after being brought in from the cold Saturday's 3-1 FA Cup win against Reading.
