It's the 21st of May and Bernardo Silva still has his Christmas tree up!

There is an old superstition that keeping your Christmas decorations up past early January is bad luck - or is at least a social faux pas.

However the bad luck aspect appears to have been debunked by Manchester City forward Bernardo Silva - who revealed he still has his tree up.

The Portuguese international shared a picture of his Christmas tree, fully decked with baubles and bows despite it nearly being June.

Not only is the tree still resplendent, but Bernardo also has a couple of Santa statues still out on display - contrasting weirdly with the early summer weather visible out the window behind.

Bernardo is entirely unapologetic for having broken traditional Christmas customs, captioning the image on Instagram: 'Bad luck? It's staying up!'

This is followed by three trophy emojis - referencing City's triumphs in the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup this season.

City certainly seemed to suffer from no bad luck as they became the first ever English club to win a domestic Treble.

Bernardo played a key role for City as they edged out Liverpool to win the Premier League with 98 points, having won the Carabao Cup on penalties against Chelsea earlier in the season.

On Saturday the treble was completed when City crushed Watford 6-0, the joint biggest win in FA Cup final history.

Bernardo's festive picture drew plenty of mirth on social media, with one City fan commenting: 'Mum, I've been to busy winning trophies to take the Christmas tree down', while another said: 'Do not take down until we win the Champions League, deal?'
