Jack Grealish will be out for 'two to three weeks with a groin injury

Jack Grealish is expected to be unavailable for up to three weeks after suffering a groin injury in Manchester City's midweek Champions League win over Copenhagen, according to reports.

The 28-year-old limped off during the first half at the Parken Stadium, despite trying his best to stay on the pitch before eventually conceding he couldn't carry on.

It was clear that the England international was suffering with a muscular injury and a timeframe of two to three weeks has been attributed for his recovery, as reported by The Telegraph.

That timeline would see Grealish available just in time for England's next international friendly fixtures against Brazil and Beligum starting on March 23.

Grealish slammed his fists into the turf during City's European victory, attempting to carry on playing after first noticing the problem and 90 seconds later needing to be withdrawn.

City boss Pep Guardiola offered words of comfort in the dugout as a distraught Grealish headed down the tunnel to receive treatment.

The timeline attached to his rehabilitation will be welcome news to City supporters and the player himself who has struggled to match the performances of last season.

There were initial fears that the former winger would be unavailable for a much longer period with City still competing in the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League.

Tuesday's 3-1 away win over Copenhagen was the first time Grealish has been picked to start by Guardiola in over a month.

Summer arrival Jeremy Doku has largely forced him out of his starting role and frustration has been growing after Grealish starred for City in their Treble-winning campaign last season.

There are also questions over his place in England's upcoming European Championship squad as Gareth Southgate prepares to name his tournament squad.

Grealish has been a key figure in the Three Lions camp across the last two major tournaments and is expected to feature again but might have to settle for a place as an impact sub.
