Maddison text

James Maddison has revealed that a text message from Son Heung-min on Saturday evening was the reason behind the team's pre-match huddle in front of the travelling Tottenham fans at Brentford. Asked by football.london about the pre-match huddle in front of the fans as it is something the team have not done before, Maddison went into detail about Son's idea.

"Sonny text me last night and I said I've got an idea, for the huddle instead of doing it in the middle of the pitch, we'll go to do it over by the fans," explained the England international. "I think they appreciated that, just to show we're all together. They probably appreciated that just as much as we appreciated their support and sticking with us until the end.

"It was a nice idea for Sonny and got us off to a positive start. It was a shame the water stopped and we had to wait for 10 minutes because it lost its value a little bit."

Romero message

The celebration was short-lived though as Romero was replaced by Davinson Sanchez shortly after. Having been mobbed by his teammates during the celebration, Romero quickly took himself away from the reaction and teammates Yves Bissouma and Deja Kulusevski got the attention of the medical team.

There was understandable worry from everyone during the proceedings but Romero has since come out on Instagram with a message about the game. He wrote: "We tried until the end to win the game but we couldn't. We will continue working to improve. all together always. I’m fine, just one blow [thumbs up emoji]."

Nine decisions still to be made

Ange Postecoglou has stated that Tottenham must get players out of the door to create space before they can add new players to his squad.

Spurs have so far signed Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison, Manor Solomon, Ashley Phillips, Micky van de Ven and Alejo Veliz while also making the loan moves of Dejan Kulusevski and Pedro Porro permanent. Heading out of the door though have only been Harry Winks, Joe Rodon and now Harry Kane, with Lucas Moura's contract ending and Arnaut Danjuma and Clement Lenglet's loan deals coming to an end.

With plenty of loaned out players having returned, Postecoglou made it clear that more of his squad have to head out of of the door before final decisions can be made about certain areas of his squad.
