Chelsea have had a wobble, losing four of their last five Premier League games under Frank Lampard, but let's take a moment to think before hammering his youngsters.
Mason Mount is 20, and Tammy Abraham is 22, and there has been such an emphasis on these two to be everything for Chelsea – to create, to score, to be their match-winners.
They have been dynamite but to expect them to do all of that week in, week out in the world's most difficult division is unrealistic.
The more experienced members of Lampard's squad have to stand up and be counted, too. They need to take on their share of the workload.
The likes of Willian and fit-again Pedro cannot expect Mount and Abraham to carry this club. When on the pitch, they need to perform.
When it comes to Mount, I wonder if he could benefit from a break. I remember when I was 19, I'd broken into the Liverpool team but was going through a rough patch.
Graeme Souness was my manager at the time and he pulled me to one side at the training ground. He told me he was going to leave me out. I was fuming. I told him I wanted to play. What young footballer wouldn't? I saw being dropped as an insult! But Graeme told me, calm as you like, "Listen, you need a break. You've had a lot of games".
I was upset but deep down I understood he was doing it for my benefit. I had my break, recharged the batteries and came back raring to go. So maybe that could help Mount, too. He may disagree – like I did when Graeme told me he was taking me out of the team – but his manager will know what is best for him.
As for Abraham, he needs better back-up. Michy Batshuayi has not quite cut it as a deputy, while Olivier Giroud is likely to leave in January so that he can get the game time he needs ahead of Euro 2020.
Lampard may have already been planning to spend in January after their transfer ban was lifted but I wonder if their recent form forces his hand even more. I wonder if he will now look to bring in a bit of experience, some tried and tested reinforcements who can relieve the pressure on Mount and Abraham.
Those two have shown themselves as Chelsea's saviours time and time again this season. Where would that club be now without those two? Not fourth, I can tell you that.
Let's not forget the contribution of 21-year-old Fikayo Tomori, either, or the fact this is 21-year-old Christian Pulisic's first season in England. So yes, Chelsea are in a rocky situation but these young guys need help. They need refreshing. Mount and Abraham cannot be expected to carry a club between them.
