According to Samuel Luckhurst of The Sun, Manchester United's football director Jason Wilcox watched Michael Carrick's first training session since taking over on Wednesday.
Samuel Luckhurst noted that Wilcox usually observes Manchester United's training sessions from the sidelines, but following the club's managerial change, the management specifically drew external attention to his presence.
The former Southampton sporting director faced criticism after Ruben Amorim was sacked last week.
Wilcox had questioned Amorim's tactics and implied he lacked the credentials possessed by other specific managers.
This led Amorim to an emotional outburst following the 1-1 draw against Leeds United earlier this month, resulting in his departure just 17 hours later.
Amorim was angered upon learning that Wilcox had referred to his role as "head coach" rather than the more authoritative title of "manager."
The 40-year-old coach, venting his frustration at Elland Road, insisted on being called "manager" instead of "head coach."
Carrick was announced as Manchester United's new interim head coach on Tuesday.
Upon arriving at the Carrington training ground, he said, "It’s an honor to take on the responsibility of leading Manchester United."
"I know what it takes to succeed here; my focus now is on helping the players meet the standards expected at this great club, and we know this team is fully capable of doing so."
"I’ve worked closely with some of the players before and have clearly been watching the team closely in recent years. I have complete faith in their talent, dedication, and ability to succeed at Manchester United."

Carrick previously spent 12 years at Manchester United as a player, making 464 appearances.
During that time, he won five Premier League titles, one UEFA Champions League title, and four domestic cup trophies.
The new manager’s first training session received a boost as Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo returned from AFCON competition.
Both players rejoined the squad at Carrington after participating in the Africa Cup of Nations and could be included in Manchester United’s matchday squad for Saturday’s game against Manchester City.
