Jay Rodriguez pleads West Brom for transfer to Burnley

Jay Rodriguez has pleaded with West Bromwich to let him join Burnley ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline.

The Baggies have rejected a couple of offers from the Clarets, who want Rodriguez to return to the club ahead of the new Premier League season.

And Sportsmail understands Rodriguez has now spoken to manager Darren Moore to express his wish to leave the Hawthorns for a return to Lancashire.

The West Brom board have also been informed of the player's ambition to leave for Burnley in the next 48 hours.

The forward has so far stopped short of handing in an official transfer request.

The 29-year-old has remained professional throughout the summer despite his desire to join Burnley, even starting in the weekend defeat by Bolton.

But Rodriguez hopes his latest move will be enough for West Brom to change their stance ahead of the transfer deadline.
