Andersen to join
Joachim Andersen is set to join the heart of Patrick Vieira’s defence on a permanent deal from Lyon. The Danish defender spent last season on loan at now-relegated Fulham but was a shining light in Scott Parker’s defence.
Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano describes the deal as “done”, although the cost is yet to be confirmed.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas took to twitter last night to say:
“the information is true but the price is notably higher [than reported].”
Whatever the price may turn out to be, Palace are getting another good player as they continue their summer rebuild.
Palace in the hunt for Odsonne Edouard
At the other end of the pitch, Palace are thought to be showing interest in Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard according to the Daily Mail.
They are thought to be behind Brighton and Hove Albion in the race for the Frenchman, but remain in the hunt for his signature as they look to add yet more firepower to their side.
Both sides are in dire need of a goalscoring forward, and Edouard, a man who has netted 37 times in the last two seasons in the Scottish Premier League, could fit the bill. Last season, just Wilfried Zaha and Christian Benteke reached double figures for the Eagles, with the next highest contribution Eberechi Eze, who netted just four times.
Interest in Connor Gallagher revived
One position in which Crystal Palace seemingly remain light is in the centre of midfield. With signings coming in to cover other areas, it is unclear how much money will be available to strengthen this area, meaning that the club may be reliant on loan deals.
One of these players, according to The Athletic, is Chelsea’s Connor Gallagher, who impressed on loan at West Bromwich Albion last summer. As per Matt Woosnam, the Eagles have revived their interest in the midfielder, who they hope will follow Marc Guehi to Selhurst Park this summer.
Would he fix their issues?
