Joao Felix's Barcelona salary has increased by 900 per cent, LaLiga has confirmed.

Barcelona registered Felix, on loan from Atletico Madrid, on a salary of just £344,440 in the summer in order to register him, with the club struggling financially.

Felix described a move to Barcelona as his 'dream' and was loaned out by Atletico Madrid after being frozen out by Diego Simeone, even training with the academy for some of pre-season.

LaLiga president Javier Tebas confirmed that they had 'multiplied the remuneration agreed between Joao and FCB by 10, for Fair Play purposes'.

That means he would now be earning £3,444,400 per year at the club where he is on loan.

SPORT reports that the financial situation at Barcelona has caused 'real headaches' for the board of directors under president Joan Laporta.

Felix's loan to Barcelona has been a relative success considering he was reduced to the role of a bit-part player at Atletico and loaned to Chelsea last campaign.

The 24-year-old has scored six goals and assisted three in 21 games this season.

Xavi's Barcelona project has been derailed somewhat by lukewarm form and they are now seven points behind LaLiga frontrunners Real Madrid and Girona.

Felix was dropped to the bench for the 2-1 win over Las Palmas after being a regular starter for the Blaugrana.

LaLiga also confirmed that Barcelona have more work to do regarding Inigo Martinez.

He had to sit out the first couple of league games in August as Barcelona struggled to register him after signing him from Athletic Club.

And now LaLiga say that they will have to do it all over again in the summer after only registering him for this season.
