Joe Hart has revealed a group of partisan Torino fans turned up to training and gave them a dressing down following a heavy loss to Napoli.
The goalkeeper, who spent the 2016-17 season on loan with the Serie A club, was in goal when Napoli put five past them in May last year.
Only a few hundred of the club's so-called 'ultras' actually made the journey to the south of Italy, but they were granted access to the training ground the next week to let their displeasure be known.
Hart told The Times: 'A big part I really loved about the culture of Italian football, especially Torino, was their ultras had a big say in the club — in a good way. One time we conceded five away to Napoli.
'It is a long way from Torino but 300 fans went, partied the whole game, they were there for us, and a few of the guys didn't go and clap the fans at the end, because they were a bit disheartened.
'The fans contacted the powers that be at the club and said, "We want to meet with the players." The fans were waiting for us in the car park. The fans took over our team meeting.
'They didn't storm it, they just addressed the captain and said, "We're not having that." We all had to stand and listen, and we apologised because they were right.'
Hart's season at Torino was the first step in a descent that has seen him lose his place in the national team.
Having failed to convince Pep Guardiola of his ability, he spent last season on loan at West Ham before joining Burnley in the summer.
This weekend, he will return to the Etihad Stadium and his achievements with the club will be marked with a special ceremony before kick-off.
City have named a training pitch after the goalkeeper, who won five major trophies with the club, including two Premier League titles.
