Jonny Otto has played down his desire to stay at Wolves by insisting his intentions are to return to Atletico Madrid in the summer and nail down a first-team spot there.

The Spaniard moved to Atletico back in the summer from Celta Vigo but was immediately sent out on a season-long loan to Wolves and has impressed in the first-half of the season.

His form in the Premier League saw him earn a call-up to the Spanish national team and has led to reports in Spain suggesting Atletico may recall him back in January with Lucas Hernandez potentially joining Bayern Munich.

The Bundesliga side have expressed concrete interest in the full-back and will be able to sign him if they meet his £71.5million release clause.

However, Jonny has insisted at this point in time that it is unlikely he will return to Atletico in January.

'It has been an incredible year and with many memories to save, but we have to live in the present, I want to continue growing as a footballer, ' he said after helping Wolves to a famous win against Tottenham over the weekend.

'No one from Atletico has told me anything about returning yet. I've seen the news from Lucas, but he's still an Atleti player and he contributes a lot there.

'I have my head here and I am working hard to arrive in the summer and try to stay.'

The 24-year-old has missed only four of Wolves' Premier League games this season and has scored one and assisted one in his 16 matches.
