Brentford have completed the signing of Chelsea midfielder Josh McEachran on a four-year deal.

The 22-year-old joins the Bees for £500,000 as they look to build on last year's encouraging Championship campaign, where they secured a play-off spot.

McEachran, who made 22 in all appearances for the Blues during his time at Stamford Bridge, will be desperate to get his career back on track after a stop-start couple of years for the youngster.

McEachran was tipped for the top after impressing during the early stages of his Chelsea career, resulting in the youngster penning a five-year deal in 2011, believed to be worth £30,000 per week.

But his career failed to ignite as expected spending time on loan first at Swansea, then Middlesbrough, Watford, Wigan and Vitesse Arnhem, without making a real impression at any of them.

Brentford Head Coach Marinus Dijkhuizen has expressed his delight at the deal via the club's official website saying: 'Josh is a versatile midfield player who can play in a holding role and as a playmaker.

'He was a big talent at Chelsea and now I look forward to working with him and our coaching staff in order to take Josh on to the next level.

'Although he played at Vitesse last season, he has good experience of English football and will be able to fit into our playing style very quickly.'
