Julian Nagelsmann has not ruled out Bayern Munich making a move for Tottenham superstar Harry Kane.
Bayern Munich, hunting a replacement for Robert Lewandowski who departed the club under acrimonious circumstances this window for Barcelona, are reported to have identified Kane as the perfect man to step into the void left by the talismanic Pole.
Speaking to the press amid Bayern Munich's pre-season preparations in the United States, the young manager refused to rule out a future move for Kane, leaving open the possibility of the England captain perhaps one day joining the German giants.
Nagelsmann said: 'He’s very expensive that’s the problem - but brilliant player, one of two or three who can play as a centre forward [as well as a] No10, but he’s very strong, brilliant with [his] head and both feet,' he added.
'He could score a lot in the Bundesliga, I don’t know the price, but it’s really tough for Bayern Munich. We’ll see what happens in the future.'
Rumours have circulated surrounding Kane perhaps moving to the Bavarian club, particularly since Lewandowski's very public departure from the club.
Lewandowski, who only had a year left on his deal with the German giants, publicly announced earlier this summer that he wished to leave the club after something had 'died' inside of him between him and the club.
Kane himself made it be known that he wished to depart Spurs last summer, with Manchester City making various bids for him. It is thought that the Englishman wished to leave his boyhood club after growing disillusioned with the direction of the team.
Bild, a German tabloid, reported on Friday that Bayern Munich had sounded out Kane's representatives over a summer move. It is said that the response had been a firm 'no' over a move this summer after he had committed to remaining at the club under Antonio Conte.
Kane has less than two years left on his current Spurs deal and this season will prove decisive in whether or not his long-term future is in N17 or elsewhere.
Indeed, Nagelsmann is not the only senior employee at Bayern Munich to have recently spoken about their admiration for Kane as a player.
Oliver Kahn, the legendary goalkeeper, now Bayern Munich's CEO, described the English forward as a 'top striker' but said that was a 'dream for the future'.
'He is under contract with Tottenham,' he said.
'Sure, an absolute top striker, but that's all a dream of the future. Now we have to look at getting the squad together for the current season. So let's see what else happens.'
