Jurgen Klopp has praised summer signing Darwin Nunez for his first-half performance as he helped his side make it two wins on the bounce with a 3-1 victory against Southampton.
Roberto Firmino opened the scoring after six minutes before Southampton quickly responded through Che Adams just three minutes later.
Two goals from the 'exceptional' Nunez then gave Liverpool a 3-1 win as they enter the World Cup break with three points secured.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Klopp said: 'The performance in the first half was really good... The way we played we caused them problems.'
Continuing on his side's first-half display, Klopp said: 'We did everything Southampton didn't want us to, used the speed of Mo (Mohamed Salah) and Darwin, the spaces between the lines.'
The German manager then went on to credit his big summer signing Nunez for his two goals in the first-half.
Speaking about the Uruguayan, Klopp said: 'Both [his] goals were outstanding, the movement was outstanding.'
The Uruguayan forward has been criticised for his finishing ability since he arrived at Anfield but his fourth and fifth Premier League goals will give him confidence heading into the World Cup.
James Milner was also in the spotlight during today's game as he became just the fourth player to reach 600 Premier League appearances.
Klopp said: 'You could see even Milner is proud today. It's a big number and a big career, [he's] won pretty much everything and [is] a role model for us and everybody.'
Klopp went on to say that the veteran is not just in the squad to rack up his appearances but he is still an important cog in Liverpool's side.
'You could see how important he still is to us, he sets the tone and very often he has the right amount of aggression.'
