Jurgan Klopp has held meetings with Liverpool's players to warn them against falling into the traps Atletico Madrid will set to disrupt them.
Liverpool's manager withdrew Sadio Mane at half-time in the first leg of the last 16 tie as he was concerned the Senegal forward would end up reacting to heavy treatment and receive a red card.
Atletico's players kept surrounding referee Szymon Marciniak that evening, asking for him to take action against Mane, and Klopp expects there will be similar pressure applied as the Spaniards, who are holding a 1-0 lead, attempt to knock the reigning champions out.
Klopp recognises this is an assignment loaded with potential problems but he has called for his players to keep their heads and take Atletico to the places 'they don't want to be' as Liverpool seek to overturn the deficit.
'We spoke about that already but we will probably mention it again,' said Klopp.
When pressed on whether it was to ensure his best players stay on for 90 minutes, Klopp replies: 'Yeah, that help 100 per cent. In a similar situation in the second game probably wouldn't do the same. But in the first game it is not over in that moment. We are 1-0 down, yes, but with 10 players you have much less of a chance to fight back.
'You need always a referee who is aware of situations like this, we cannot do it by ourselves. We have no influence over that. We have to deal with it. Sadio did nothing wrong, absolutely nothing, and I still thought in the next situation it will be like this.
'But if it was always that easy for you to get out the best player of the opponent then there is something wrong with the game. If the player does nothing wrong but it's still possible... wow! Everyone runs against his elbow or whatever that should not happen. We expect a really "experienced" performance from Atletico, let me say that. In all different departments experienced but we have to deal with that.'
