Tottenham have turned down an approach from Juventus for Tanguy Ndombele which would have seen Aaron Ramsey go in the opposite direction and return to the Premier League, according to Telegraph.
The Serie A champions recently expressed an interest in Spurs’ record signing but, according to Italian sources, were told he is in Jose Mourinho’s plans despite starting just three Premier League games in 2020.
Juve are willing to allow Ramsey to depart already after he moved to Turin from Arsenal only a year ago. He joined on a free transfer in a deal worth around £400,000 a week. Juventus were open to an exchange for Ndombele, having already signed Arthur Melo from Barcelona.
Ndombele arrived at Spurs in the summer from Lyon for a club-record £53.8 million but he was criticised by Mourinho for his performances just before football went into lockdown.
He came off the bench in the defeat against Sheffield United on Thursday for his first appearance in Project Restart.
Mourinho has insisted the player - signed under Mauricio Pochettino - can turn his Spurs career around, citing the slow start Luka Modric made before settling in the Premier League.
