Kevin de Bruyne is reportedly set to undergo a scan on Monday to determine the extent of his latest injury after the midfielder hobbled off in Manchester City's Premier League opener.

City kickstarted the new season into life with a 3-0 unhinging of Vincent Kompany's newly-promoted Burnley at Turf Moor, but there was concern for De Bruyne as he was forced off in the first-half.

The Belgian went down in the 23rd minute and had to be replaced by Mateo Kovacic as a suspected recurrence of a hamstring injury ended his first match of the new season prematurely.

'He is down. We have to reflect, talk to the doctors, see what happened. He has to be relaxed, recover and come back.'

The extent of his previous hamstring problem was kept largely quiet as City's players departed on Treble-winning celebrations and summer holidays after securing European glory in Istanbul.
