Karius set to undergo a medical with Besiktas on Friday (Echo)

Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius is set to undergo a medical with Besiktas, according to an article by James Pearce for the Echo.

A deal was agreed between the two clubs on Monday for the German to initially sign for the Turkish club on loan for the next two seasons before completing a permanent move in the Summer of 2020.

Karius was withdrawn from the squad to face Crystal Palace on Monday evening at Selhurst Park with fellow custodian Simon Mignolet taking his place on the bench.

Many expected the deal to be completed on Tuesday after news of the deal had reached the press, but there was a delay due to a four day public holiday in Turkey this week.

The Feast of Sacrifice is the most important Islamic religious festival of the year in Turkey and so it did not make sense for Karius to fly over for his medical – which is set to take place on Friday.

Besiktas are set to pay an initial loan fee of around £2.25m for the two year loan with an additional £7.25m to be paid in 2020 provided conditions of the deal are met.

Liverpool have also added a 20% sell on clause in the terms of the transfer.
