Leicester City fans are waiting for news on the status of goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel after he took a nasty blow to the head during Denmark's win over Iceland on Sunday.

Schmeichel rushed out and dived to grab the ball, but Albert Gudmundsson was onrushing and couldn't stop in time.

His thigh and knee connected with Schmeichel's head, and the Dane appeared to be briefly knocked out.

He received medical attention, and was eventually able to leave the field under his own power.

He was substituted off at half time as a precaution, with the possibility of a concussion or a neck injury in the minds of the doctors.

Schmeichel will be looked at further, but there is no word yet on the extent of any injury he may have.

The goalkeeper was clearly in a lot of pain following the incident, and was briefly on the ground with his eyes shut as team-mates rushed to see if he was hurt.

However he did respond to medical attention, so there are hopes that there won't be a lasting problem.

Brendan Rodgers will certainly hope not either, with the Foxes still flying high at the top of the Premier League table.

They have a crucial match against reigning champions Liverpool coming up next weekend, so he will need his squad to be at full strength for that stern test.

Denmark won their game against Iceland 2-1. They went ahead early through a Christian Eriksen penalty, although Iceland looked to have rescued a point with a late goal.

However, Eriksen stepped up for a second penalty in injury time, sealing the win for his team.
