Klopp: 10, 11, now it's 13, we didn't mention it because it's not interesting

Jurgen Klopp is adamant Liverpool are paying no attention to the Premier League table after extending their lead at the top.

The Reds are now 13 points clear after a thumping 4-0 win at second-placed Leicester City on Boxing Day.

No team in English top-flight history has earned as many points from their opening 18 games as the 52 Liverpool have accrued.

But of suggestions the title edging towards Anfield for the first time in 30 years, Klopp said: “The only thing that changes in the question is that the number (of points) is different.

“10, 11, now it's 13. We don't feel it, we don't think about it. We didn't mention it once before the game because it's just not interesting.

“I can write the stories myself. Never before in the history of English football has a team had as big a lead and lost the lead. That sounds in my ear negative, so why should we think about something like that?

“We are focused on the next game. We play Wolves, Sheffield United, Everton, Tottenham and Manchester United in our next five games. That doesn't sound like anything is decided in my ears, to be honest.

“We will try to make sure we are ready for these games. The number of the lead is not relevant to us.”
