The inspiring comeback that Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool showed against Barcelona was referenced in Prime Minister's Questions, yet the German coach had an interesting response to the comparison between his side's triumph and Brexit.
The issue with Klopp's response - with the Liverpool boss being a firm Remain advocate - was that he attempted to use comedy, but his joke was lost in translation.
"For England obviously, at least, the big clubs want to stay with all they have in Europe," said Klopp.
However, he realised that few people in the press conference had understood his joke, so he had to clarify his statement.
"You didn't understand that now," he joked, as journalists finally laughed.
"Because the rest of the country doesn't want it," he hurriedly explained.
"We've come to a point where you don't understand. Sorry, it's my language; I really thought it was a good one."
His attempt at humour was praised by some Liverpool fans and Remainers but was predictably criticised by Brexiteers.
