Klopp recalls his memories about BVB vs Shalke derby ahead of Man Utd clash

Jurgen Klopp says a Liverpool victory at Manchester United would be 'another step' in the story currently being written at Anfield.

United have not won the Premier League since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement in 2013 and currently languish in the bottom-half of the table under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Klopp, though, is calling upon his experience at Borussia Dortmund - where he spent seven years as manager - when assessing what a victory would mean to Liverpool's arch-rivals.

He said: "One of the biggest stories of my career was that the fourth matchday when I came to Dortmund was the derby [against Schalke].

"We had started quite well in the season, I think, and were 3-0 down at home at half-time.

"Second-half starts [and] Kevin Kuranyi, striker from Schalke, is in a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper and if he scores the fourth we are done.

"He didn't, we equalised and we played 3-3. It felt like we won the game and each time Schalke was much better than we were so it was a big mark when people started thinking [Dortmund] could be something special in future.

"I know what kind of signal a game like this can be so that's why I know what United tries to do."
