Vincent Kompany bid farewell to Manchester City today wearing his "Don't shoot" t-shirt insisting he had "given everything" to the club.
The Belgian said goodbye to the 100,000 strong City faithful who turned up to celebrate with Pep Guardiola's side as they showed off their silverware during an open-top bus parade through the City centre on Monday.
Donning his t-shirt with those famous words "Don't shoot, No, Vinny, no!" from Sergio Aguero as he unleashed his stunning winner against Leicester City to seal the title, that was the moment he knew his time was up.
On stage outside the Manchester Cathedral, Kompany said: “The moment that ball against Leicester went ‘top bins’ I knew I was done!
"I couldn’t do anything better. It felt right.”
"I’ve given everything I could for this club.
"I can’t tell you how proud of that I am. I have nothing left. I have given everything."
Kompany added: “Eleven years at this club, what a journey we’ve been on. We were always a great club without silverware but now we’ve got silverware and I’m really proud.
“This group of players – we’ve given you something you deserved for a long time.
"Now this team is ready to achieve so much more.”
