Kalidou Koulibaly misses training
Kalidou Koulibaly was not spotted at an open Chelsea training session ahead of the Blues' Champions League quarter-final second-leg showdown with Real Madrid on Tuesday.
The Blues held a session on Monday morning at Cobham where the whole squad was present apart from Koulibaly. The 31-year-old defender limped off in Chelsea's defeat with a hamstring problem at the Santiago Bernabeu last week after sprinting back to recover a loose ball.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Thiago Silva both trained, though, after being missing from the Chelsea squad in Saturday's defeat to Brighton at Stamford Bridge. Likewise with Kai Havertz and N'Golo Kante. Youngster Lewis Hall was also present with the first-team.
Vincent Kompany on radar
Chelsea are reportedly interested in appointing Burnley boss Vincent Kompany as their next manager after his astonishing first season managing in England.
Kompany has guided Burnley back to the Premier League after only one season with seven games remaining. The Clarets have won 26 this season, losing only twice and currently 13 points clear of second-placed Sheffield United.
Now, it has been reported that Chelsea are interested in the Belgian to replace Graham Potter as Todd Boehly's third permanent manager. According to The Times, the club hierarchy 'admire' Kompany and have added him to Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart's list of potential candidates.
Real Madrid unhappy with UEFA
Real Madrid are reportedly unhappy with UEFA's decision to appoint Daniele Orsato to oversee tonight's Champions League clash against Chelsea. The La Liga giants have had a number of recent run-ins with the Italian referee and the Spanish press have claimed Madrid are already 'crying' about the decision.
It reportedly relates to an incident three years ago when Madrid fell to a 2-1 defeat to Manchester City in the last 16. Orsato awarded City a penalty after Dani Carvajal fouled Raheem Sterling before sending Sergio Ramos off for bringing Gabriel Jesus down as the last man.
Luka Modric has also had previous with the official after the midfielder described Orsato as a "disaster" and claimed he is "one of the worst" referees after his performance in Croatia's 3-0 World Cup defeat to Argentina in December.
Spanish publication Sport have claimed Madrid are already 'crying' about Orsato being awarded the game to officiate. Orsato has officiated six Champions League games this season, showing 20 yellow cards and zero red cards.
