Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri has snubbed a move for Manchester United midfielder Fred and Tottenham Hotspur's Giovani Lo Celso, the club's president has confirmed.

The Brazilian has been heavily linked with an Old Trafford exit this summer as Fulham and Galatasaray hold interest.

Lo Celso has featured for Spurs in pre-season but was on loan at Villarreal last campaign and could still depart.

As quoted by Fabrizio Romano, Lazio president Lotito has revealed that he offered the pair to Sarri for the new season, but the manager declined.

He said:  'I was prepared to open talks with Man United and bid for Fred, but Maurizio Sarri told me no — he doesn't want Fred. He did the same with Lo Celso.'

The president continued to reveal that the Italian has identified two targets for midfield instead, one of whom he has managed before.

'Sarri wants Zielinski and Ricci,' he revealed.

This comes after Sergej Milinkovic-Savic joined Al-Hilal from Lazio this summer.

Sarri's side have a huge gap to fill in their midfield, but he has been specific about the players that he wishes to sign.

Piotr Zielinski shares a strong relationship with the head coach, dating back to their days at Napoli together.

He was a reported target for Sarri at Chelsea too, although a move never came to fruition.

It remains to be seen as to what the future holds for both Fred and Lo Celso, with Lazio no longer chasing deals for the Premier League duo this summer.
