Leeds midfielder Glen Kamara (28) is close to reaching an agreement with Stade Rennais to join the Ligue 1 club, according to a report from Ouest-France. The Finland international midfielder is reportedly one of the Brittany outfit’s priority signings ahead of this summer transfer window. Rennes are in the market for one or two midfielders. Switzerland international Fabian Rieder has joined VfB Stuttgart on loan whilst talks are ongoing with Roma for the departure of Enzo Le Fée.
Should he sign for Rennes, Glen Kamara would provide much-needed physicality to Les Rouge et Noir‘s midfield, which was one of their glaring weaknesses last season. Rennes were too leaky at the back as their inexperienced defense was too frequently exposed. Rennes consequently failed to qualify for a European competition for the first time since 2017.
Sources contacted by Get French Football News understand that Glen Kamara was already being monitored by Rennes’ previous sporting management. The Leeds United midfielder is under contract with the Peacocks with a deal set to expire in 2027.
