The 25-year-old Paixao was on the verge of joining Olympique Marseille in recent weeks, but talks between Feyenoord and l'OM stalled over disagreements concerning a transfer fee. Marseille are also nearing an agreement with Juventus for Timothy Weah, ruling a move for Paixao redundant.
According to Sky Sports, Premier League newcomers Leeds United have submitted their first official bid for the Brazilian fan favourite. The bid reportedly exceeds the roughly €29 million offered by Olympique Marseille, which Feyenoord rejected.
Rising star
Igor Paixao joined Feyenoord from Brazilian side Coritiba in 2022 and gradually became their star player. In 129 games for the Rotterdam giants, Paixao scored 39 goals and provided 23 assists.
He played his best football this past season, scoring 18 goals and assisting 14 more in 47 games across all competitions. Paixao caught the eye of international fans last year in the UEFA Champions League, winning the Man of the Match award against Sparta Prague in the League Phase and after the home game against AC Milan in the knockout round.
Paixao is under contract until the summer of 2030 at Feyenoord.
