Leeds edge closer to Ian Carlo Poveda signing as he passes his medical

Ian Carlo Poveda has passed a medical ahead of his permanent move to Leeds from Manchester City.

As reported by Sportsmail on Tuesday Leeds agreed a fee with City for the England under-20 wideman and his switch could be confirmed as early as Friday.

Leeds have beaten Italian Serie A side Torino to land Poveda, a quick, skilful and creative winger capable of playing on either flank.

The 19 year-old made his senior debut against Burton Albion in the Carabao Cup last season and caught the eye in youth action for club and country.

He was once part of Barcelona’s youth set up and Torino were keen to tempt him back to Europe.

But Leeds are set to land their man and bring the Londoner, who has also spent time at Arsenal and Brentford’s academies before City, to Yorkshire.

Poveda will become Leeds’s second new arrival of the window following the capture of goalkeeper Elia Caprile from Chievo.

They remain in the market for a striker to compete with Patrick Bamford to spearhead their attack as they push for automatic promotion.

Leeds are currently second in the Championship.
