Leeds United midfielder Jordan Stevens has accepted an FA charge for breaching betting regulations.

An FA spokesperson confirmed on Friday that the charge relates to 59 bets that were placed on football by the 19-year-old during the 2018-19 season.

Stevens was given under August 8 to respond but the Championship side confirmed he will accept the charges after 'fully cooperating with the club and authorities'.

Leeds said in a statement on their website: 'The player fully understands he has made an error and whilst we are aware that there may be consequences for his actions, we must also remember that Jordan is a 19-year-old man yet to cement his place as a first team footballer and we believe that educating young players around the various pitfalls which present themselves at this stage of their career is of the upmost importance.

'Therefore we are committed to standing by and supporting all of our young professionals, including Jordan Stevens.'

The midfielder, who can also play out on the wing, has made just one appearance in the Championship which came in the 2-1 defeat to Stoke City last season.
