Jens Lehmann believes runaway leaders Liverpool will repeat Arsenal's incredible unbeaten season.
The former German international was the goalkeeper during Arsenal's Invincibles of 2003/04 where Arsene Wenger's side went a whole season without losing.
Liverpool have played 26 games this season without losing, and drawing only once.
And their unbeaten run stretches back to last season, with their previous league defeat occurring in January 2019 to title winners Manchester City, a run of 43 matches.
The Reds are now six games short of matching Arsenal's record of 49 games unbeaten which would take place against Manchester City on April 4.
Speaking at Monday night's Laureus World Sport Awards, as quoted by The Sun, Lehmann said: 'Liverpool is an amazing story. All the ingredients are there for them to become the "Invincible" champions.
'They are a fantastic team, really well organised — and also sometimes a little bit lucky. But that isn't a criticism. At times, we were lucky as well and I am a believer that you have to work hard to earn your good fortune.'
Lehmann said the only team likely to beat Liverpool before the end of the season is Manchester City.
Arsenal are the only team in Premier League history to go a season unbeaten, and were the first English side to achieve the feat since Preston North End in 1889.
And Lehmann, who left Arsenal in 2008, believes his Gunners side would have beaten the current champions-elect.
He boasted of the team which comprised Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Patrick Vieira and Robert Pires: 'It's very hard to compare but when I look at the individual quality we had and the pace we had, then I think we would have had the edge.'
The 50-year-old also claims the current standard of the Premier League is not as high as when he was playing, and many teams are psychologically defeated before they even take to the field against Liverpool.
He said: 'I don't want to take something away from their success because they obviously have a great team. The fact they have only drawn one game so far makes the achievement even more special.
'We drew 12 games but many of those were after we had clinched the title and we didn't think about going unbeaten until after we had clinched the title at White Hart Lane.'
The German did however heap praise on his compatriot Jurgen Klopp who has masterminded Liverpool's ascent.
He said it is difficult to compare the Liverpool manager and Arsene Wenger because the Frenchman had continued success whereas Klopp has only just started winning trophies.
Lehmann said: 'Of course there is a lot of satisfaction in Germany to see what Klopp is doing in England.
'Once you win one thing and you find the recipe for it, then it becomes much easier. I think Jurgen has found the recipe. I think Liverpool will continue to get better.'
