Leicester City's Championship dominance continued inside a party-like King Power as goals from Kelechi Iheanacho and Jamie Vardy inflicted a 2-0 defeat on a wounded Stoke side.
Enzo Maresca's first test of trust in the depth of his Leicester squad didn't just pay off, it couldn't have gone any better. Six changes to key personnel and the Foxes still eased to victory.
Iheanacho scored for a third consecutive game, this time amongst the starters as his 24th minute strike fired the Foxes in front against an injury-struck Stoke team that failed to provide much of a contest.
It wasn't the electric start home supporters have seen in recent games with the new-look defence of Jannik Vestergaard and Harry Souttar slower in their ability to recycle the ball, while Ndidi's absence affected the flow that has previously been the key to unlocking opposition teams.
But they still had enough firepower to crumble Stoke's resolve. The second-half was more free flowing as Leicester began to toy with their opponents, largely through Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall who was denied what looked set to be a certain goal after the playmaker surged through only to be denied by a strong hand from Mark Travers as the Stoke goalkeeper stayed on his feet.
Vardy wrapped up three points by doing what he has done best throughout his magnificent Leicester career. The veteran striker reacted first in the box to Wilfried Ndidi's skewed shot and tapped in from close-range before antagonistically sprinting over to the Stoke supporters to celebrate.
