Leicester City have agreed a deal with Southampton for the transfer of defender Jannik Vestergaard, subject to the Danish defender passing a medical.

A £15million deal has been struck between the two clubs and now manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has confirmed the centre-back will be moving to the King Power stadium.

Leicester's search for a defender accelerated last week after a serious injury sustained to Wesley Fofana in pre-season.

Brendan Rodgers side entered the market after the injury to Fofana, who will not play again before 2022 after breaking a leg and damaging knee ligaments, and Jonny Evans, who is out until at least mid-September with a foot problem.

It is understood that Saints will land an initial £14million fee for Vestergaard's services that will rise to £15million with certain add-ons, taking the total that the club have taken from transfer sales this summer to over £50million.

The defender joins star striker Danny Ings in leaving the club this summer, after he swapped St Mary's for Aston Villa in a £25m switch plus add-ons.
