Leicester 'could lower Ben Chilwell asking price' in boost to Chelsea

  /  autty

Chelsea have been given a glimmer of hope in their bid to sign Ben Chillwell from Leicester this summer.

The west London club are already close to completing a £53million move for striker Timo Werner.

And boss Frank Lampard wants to continue his spending spree with the capture of England left-back Chillwell.

Leicester, who look set to qualify for next season's Champions League, were holding out for £80m for the 23-year-old.

But according to the Evening Standard, the Foxes may now be willing to accept a few closer to Chelsea's £50m valuation.

Chilwell is contracted to Leicester until 2024 but harbours hopes of joining a bigger club.

And Brendan Rodgers has been ruling the rule over potential replacements, including Southampton's Ryan Bertrand who has one year remaining on his contract.

Leicester resume their Premier League campaign next week with Rodgers side sitting third in the table.
