Brendan Rodgers was left bemoaning another serious injury as the Leicester boss confirmed first-choice centre-back Caglar Soyuncu is set for three months on the sidelines.
Soyuncu, 24, played no part in Sunday's dramatic 1-0 defeat by Aston Villa, where Ross Barkley netted a last-minute winner for Dean Smith's visitors.
In defeat Rodgers confirmed Soyuncu, who suffered an abductor tear while on international duty with Turkey, has a 'serious' problem and is likely to play no part until 2021.
'(Caglar) Soyuncu is more serious in terms of the muscle is right off the bone,' Rodgers said.
'So he could be out for three months, which is an absolute shame. He did it training with the Turkish national team.
'He'll be a big miss and adds to the other boys who are out.'
The scan, which confirmed the extent of the injury over the weekend, will rule Soyuncu out of the group stage of Leicester's Europa League campaign.
They face Zorya Luhansk at the King Power Stadium on October 22 before a trip to Athens to face AEK Athens on October 29.
Leicester had won three of their opening four league games with Soyuncu in the side but will now have to depend on Jonny Evans and £36million summer signing Wesley Fofana.
Rodgers is already without Wilfred Ndidi, who suffered an abductor tear against Burnley, and striker Jamie Vardy remains less than 100 per cent as he missed the defeat by Villa on Sunday.
'Jamie will probably miss the European game but be okay for our next league game,' Rodgers said.
'It's just a recurrence of something he's had over the past few years, even before I came in. He's had some issues with his calves.
'This isn't so serious but playing him would have risked a tear and we can't really afford to do that.'
