Assistant referee Calum Spence was left bloodied after being hit by an object thrown from the crowd during Sunday's Scottish Premiership clash between Livingston and Rangers.

The linesman stood in front of the away fans at the the Tony Macaroni Arena when he was seen holding his head in pain ten minutes into the second-half.

Referee Craig Thomson quickly halted play to check on him with television cameras showing he had blood seeping down the back of his head.

Play was held up for quite some time as Spence was patched up on the touchline by a physio, replays revealing the injury had been caused by a missile launched from the away section.

Having been cleaned up, Spence was seen smiling before play resumed – making it clear it would not prevent him from conitnuing.

Fans were quick to take to social media to slam the incident, labeling it 'disgusting' and 'unacceptable'.

The home side went on to pull off a big victory, Dolly Menga netting the only goal of the game in the first half.
