Manchester United centre-back Lisandro Martinez has admitted that Erik ten Hag's squad have ambitions to win trophies this season, but insisted they will remain grounded.
United endured a nightmare start to the domestic campaign and lost their opening two matches against Brighton and Brentford respectively. However, Ten Hag's men responded well to the disappointing beginning and have been impressive in recent weeks - climbing up to fifth in the Premier League table.
United have recorded victories over Tottenham and Everton recently and have also won three of their opening four Europa League games.
While they have not won a trophy since winning the Europa League and EFL Cup in 2017, defender Martinez has insisted that United are capable of winning silverware this term, but warned his teammates to remain humble.
"For sure, our ambition is to win titles, to put Manchester United where they deserve [to be]," Martinez told Sky Sports.
"I think we are in a good way to do it. But we have to keep our feet on the ground, we have to be humble and take it step by step."
The Argentine also suggested that Ten Hag is keen to bring a winning culture to Old Trafford, before going on to praise the Dutchman for his tactical awareness.
"Erik always wants to play good football. He wants an aggressive team, a winning mentality. It is very important, that," said Martinez.
"I think the idea is a bit the same," he added. "He wants to bring that mentality to here. It is a good mentality. You can see it in the game [against Tottenham]. We were very aggressive. Very good tactically, with and without the ball, the movement, he connection of the team. It takes time, for sure.
"We have to be patient. But we are in a good way."
