The UEFA Champions League is undoubtedly the most premier continental club competition in the world. We have witnessed teams making incredible comebacks, overturning mammoth deficits to progress further.
However, it was only on five occasions that an away team turned the table, erasing a first-leg deficit. Of the five, on two occasions the tie was won on away goals, a rule that was scrapped by UEFA before the 2021-22 campaign.

It was a historic night at the Camp Nou. Barcelona were down by 4-0 at the end of the first leg and they had a mountain to climb. The Parisians were in control until the 87th minute and in the next seven minutes, all hell broke loose when Barcelona scored thrice in seven minutes to clinch the tie 6-1.

Kostas Manolas scored one of the most significant goals in his career as his header sent Barcelona crashing out of the Champions League.
The Romans were staring at a three-goal deficit after losing the first leg 4-1. However, they won the return leg 3-0 to progress on away goals, with Manolas' goal in the 82nd minute sparking wild celebrations.

The Spanish side were outplayed by AC Milan at the San Siro as they lost 4-1. "Miracles often happen, things you might not rationally expect," said Deportivo coach Javier Irureta after the first leg.
He stood vindicated as his side romped to get level on aggregate in the first half itself. Whereas, in the 76th minute, they scored another to clinch the tie and progress into the next round.

The Los Blancos were the emphatic favourites after the quarterfinal draw however, they fell to a shock 2-0 defeat in Germany and were staring at an early exit.
But it was Cristiano Ronaldo who once again delivered when his team needed the most. With a mountain to climb in the second leg, Ronaldo scored twice in the opening 17 minutes. The third was an outrageous free-kick in the 77th minute that completed another famous remontada.

The German giants succumbed to a shock 3-1 loss at the Estadio do Dragao in Portugal. Lewandowski and co. could hardly believe what transpired in those 90 minutes as Ricardo Quaresma's brace and a goal from Jackson Martinez propelled them to a 3-1 win.
Bayern had to deliver and they did. They had 21 shots in the return leg and won 6-1 to oust Porto with Lewandowski being the main the protagonist with two goals.

PSG ran riot in Paris as they inflicted a 3-1 defeat on Chelsea. Ezequiel Lavezzi opened the scoring while Javier Pastore and a David Luiz own goal completed the rout. Eden Hazard scored the only goal from the spot for the Blues.
At Stamford Bridge, Chelsea found their mojo once again. Andre Schurrle gave them hope with a 32nd-minute strike while Demba Ba scored the winner. Jose Mourinho was absolutely ecstatic after the 87th-minute winner and that once again sparked the famous touchline celebration.

A Robin van Persie hat-trick helped Manchester United overturn a 2-0 deficit from the first leg. It was one of the most famous victories of the David Moyes era. The Dutch striker scored his first from the penalty spot, his second was a clinical finish, and the third was a brilliant free-kick that sent the Old Trafford crowd completely berserk.

Messi scored within five minutes and added a second just before the break after Milan's M'Baye Niang had hit the woodwork. David Villa and Jordi Alba scored the third and fourth goal respectively to seal a famous win.

In the return leg, Chelsea won 4-1 to progress to the quarterfinals, courtesy of goals from Didier Drogba, John Terry, Frank Lampard and Branislav Ivanovic.

The Whites managed to register a comfortable 4-2 lead in the first leg at the Bernabeu. However, their defence failed to hold their nerve in France as they conceded three goals. Ludovic Giuly scored a brace for Monaco which fired the French side into the next round. Raul pulled one back to level the aggregate score but Madrid sank due to the away goal rule.

Barcelona had to overcome a 3-1 defeat at home and they did so in style. Rivaldo, Luis Figo and Dani Garcia scored in regulation time to match the scoreline from the first leg. Garcia's 83rd-minute goal shifted the momentum towards the Spanish side in extra time. Rivaldo and Patrick Kuivert scored in the first half of extra time to seal the tie in favour of the Blaugranas.
