The EFL have announced Liverpool will not be kicked out of the Carabao Cup for fielding a potentially ineligible player, and instead have been fined £200,000.
The Reds landed themselves in hot water after 22-year-old Pedro Chirivella came on as a 63rd minute substitute in the 2-0 third round win against MK Dons.
An issue arised after it emerged Chirivella did not have an international transfer certificate - a requirement to play after the midfielder returned to the club following a loan spell with Spanish club Extremadura last season, but Liverpool have avoided expulsion from the competition.
Liverpool are going to host Arsenal in the fourth round of the EFL Cup.
