Bayer Leverkusen have announced that they have tied attacker Leon Bailey down to a fresh deal that runs until 2023.

The forward has been linked to several clubs over the summer, with Manchester United's interest first to emerge. Recent links have seen him associated with both Liverpool and Chelsea.

However, the 21-year-old has ended speculation over his future by tying himself to the Bundesliga side for another five years.

A statement from the club reads: "Bayer 04 and Leon Bailey have agreed on a premature contract renewal: the new deal for the 21-year-old runs until 30 June, 2023.

"Leon Bailey was transferred in January 2017 from the Belgian club KRC Genk to Leverkusen. Since then, the Jamaica-born player has featured in 44 official fixtures for the Werkself, in which he has contributed 12 goals and 7 assists. His original contract would have run until 2022."

Bailey, 21, joined Leverkusen in the winner of 2016/17 and made eight appearances in the second half of the season without scoring. But last year the lightning-fast winger dominated Bundesliga defences on his way to scoring nine goals and claiming six assists in 30 appearances.
