Liverpool are to appoint former Manchester United goalkeeper coach Jack Robinson to their backdrop staff.

Robinson spent seven years at United helping David de Gea and Edwin van Der Sar.

Recently he has been working for the Football Association where he has had responsibility for coaching the Under 15 to Under 17 keepers and was also part of the England Under 17 setup that won the World Cup in 2017.

He will assist Liverpool's John Achterburg who is well thought of by Jurgen Klopp, and initiated the appointment.

Achterburg will concentrate on Liverpool's Alisson Becker and Simon Mignolet but recognises extra help is required to keep pushing youngsters Kamil Grabara and Caolmhin Kelleher.

Poland youth international Grabara is on standby for Liverpool's squad to face Spurs at the weekend after team-mate Kelleher suffered a nasty cut to his calf following a clash with Divock Origi in training on Tuesday.

The 19-year-old Kelleher is facing four weeks out which is a blow as he had been impressing staff and was in contention for the weekend as Mignolet is nursing sprained fingers.
